Mr. Bennie Mason, 80, of Decatur died Thursday, April 14th at Decatur Morgan Hospital/DGC.  His funeral will be Thursday, April 21st at 12 noon at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church.  He will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Annie Mae Willingham Memorial Garden.

Deacon Bennie Mason was born September 1, 1935 in Lawrence County.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mason and Annie Wilson Mason; three sisters, Alberta Cobb, Alice Davis and Ollie Reedus; one brother, John L.Mason and one daughter, Glory B. Henderson.

Deacon Mason accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful and dedicated member.  He served as a deacon for 59 years.  Singing and praying was his calling.  He was obedient to his calling not only at his church but at other churches and events that he attended.

Deacon Mason leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Sallie V. Willingham Mason, Decatur, AL; two daughters, Mollie White (Louis), Courtland, AL and Delores Conner (Raymond), Los Angeles, CA; four sisters, Mary Pearl Lawrence, Oklahoma City, OK, Annie Girt Jones and Susie Mason, San Jose, CA and Ethel Bailey, Huntsville, AL; one brother, Preston Mason, North Courtland, AL; six grandchildren, Audrey White Johnson and Laron White (Kathy), Decatur, AL, Raymond Conner, Springfield, VA, Kelvis White (Chriscanita), Dothan, AL, Marque Henderson, Courtland, AL, and Karen Conner, Los Angeles, CA; seven great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Emily R. Mason, Atlanta, GA, Helen Jacobs (Victor), Durham, NC, Pearl Duff (Kenneth), Creedmore, NC; two brothers-in-law, Dave Willingham III (Phyllis) and George Willingham, North Courtland, AL.
