Mr. Willie B. Hampton, 84, of North Courtland died July 23, 2020 at Decatur General Hospital Emergency Room. There will be a graveside service at Courtland Cemetery Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Public viewing will be held at Jackson Memory Funeral Home on Sunday from 12-6 and Monday from 10-6.
Obituary
Mr. Willie B. Hampton was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on October 21, 1935 to the late Flemotis and Molly Hampton. He departed this life on July 23, 2020. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and joined First Missionary Baptist Courtland, Alabama where he later served as a deacon until his death. He retired from the City of Decatur where he worked 20 plus years. He was a volunteer fireman for North Courtland Fire Department, he also was a diehard Courtland /Hubbard Chief’s fan. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Bell on June 12, 1971, to this union two children were born.
Willie B. was preceded in death by his parents Flemotis and Molly Hampton; four children, Willie B. Hampton Jr., Bobby and Billy Wilson and Judy Cowan, five sisters Pearl Ella Jones, Annie Pearl Hampton, Mollie S. Orr, Millie A. Pruitt and Rosie P. Hampton.
He leaves cherish his memories: A loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Mrs. Dorothy B. Hampton of North Courtland, AL; two loving sons, Timothy (LaTonya) Hampton of North Courtland, AL, Ronald Jones of Decatur, AL; one daughter, Belinda (Andre) Huctherson of Chattanooga, TN; fourteen grandchildren: Lee Jr, Curtis, Jackie and Fred Cowan all of Decatur, AL, DeNorris and DeWarren Hutcherson of Chattanooga, TN, Carrolton Orr of Alaska, LaShiva and Timaya Hampton of North Courtland, AL, Danyell, Julie Ann and Jasmine Cowan of Town Creek, AL, Jasmine Wilson of Chattanooga, TN and Heaven Orr of Decatur, AL; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers; Flemotis (Dorothy) Hampton of North Courtland, AL, Tommie (Lillie) Hampton of Hillsboro, AL; three sisters, Mattie Miller of Hillsboro, AL, Helen (Odis) Goode of Decatur, AL, Louise Jones of Colorado; four brothers-in-law, Willie James Bell of Arkansas, James (Lucille) Johnson of North Courtland, AL, Carl (Lavine) Bell of Courtland, AL, Johnnie Orr of Courtland, AL. A host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
