Mr. Robert " Bob" Burkett was a structural steel worker from Brewton, AL who worked his entire career in Chicago, IL. Over a fifty year span he worked on more than half of the skyscrapers in the Windy City, including the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower). He was often placed in charge of erecting these massive buildings. He was also asked to help clear ground zero after the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks in New York City due to his expertise as a steel worker. There was no job too big or too small for Bob. When he would come home to Courtland, AL between jobs, people would see his work truck and if they needed any help, he never said no. He spent most of his time helping his many friends and family in the community. Bob loved animals. He always had dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, peacocks, as well as his pond full of catfish. After retirement he returned home to Brewton where he loved spending time with all his brothers, sisters, children, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He loved his farm and enjoyed piddling all day with his animals.
