Nina Davis Denson

Nina Davis Denson, 80, of Decatur died Friday, October 8, 2021. There will be a graveside service at Decatur City Cemetery, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00 am.

                                Obituary

Nina Mae Miller Denson was one of eight children born to the late Henry Miller and Beatrice Moore Miller. She entered this life on August 4, 1941 in Hillsboro, AL, and departed this life on October 8, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Nina gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of Bethlehem P.B. Church. Later, she united with Alpha Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served for over forty-five years in different capacities, including Deaconess and Church Clerk. Her faith in God was relentless and she always took the time to encourage others through their challenges as well as celebrate their special times.

Nina was a 1959 graduate of Tennessee Valley High School where her talent for sewing was nurtured. Nina was a homemaker for many years, and later began working for Decatur City Schools. After twenty-five years, she retired from Brookhaven Middle School and continued to substitute until 2011.

Nina took great pride in sewing, cooking, and making a wonderful home for her family. Her heart and home were always open to others. From the moment of entering her home, guests experienced a sense of warmth beginning with the view of her lovely flower gardens. Then, they were greeted with the aroma of delicious food, sounds of joyful conversations, and feelings of being welcomed and loved. She entertained many people over the years, and as they left, they always inquired about the next invitation.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Beatrice Miller, her brothers, Henry Miller, Jr. and Marvin Miller, and sisters, Erma Ella Bates, Fannie Sanford, and Barbara Jones.

Nina Miller Denson leaves to cherish her memories, Henry Denson, her loving and devoted husband of twenty years; Her children born to her first marital union, Garland Davis (Cheryl), Huntsville, AL, and Wanda Davis, Athens, AL; her stepchildren, Gregory Davis (Mary), Decatur, AL, Barbara Marshall (Robbie), Chattanooga, TN, Sandra Jones, Mark Denson (LaKeitha), bothof Jacksonville, Alabama, Gina Denson, St. Peters, MO, Dana Smith (Alonzo) Snellville, GA., two sisters, Hortense Miller, Hillsboro, AL, and Kay Miller Pride (Johnny), Madison, AL; a special cousin, Ollie Underwood (Ann) of Tuscumbia, AL; five sisters-in law, two brothers-in law, four grandchildren (Amarion, Ashton, Naomi, and Nigel), twelve step-grandchildren, three godchildren, her caregiver, Sadie Bolding, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
