Obituary

Maxine Allen Orr, 79, of N. Courtland. Died November 9, 2022. The funeral will be Held at First M.B. Church in Courtland, Saturday November 12pm, at 12:00, burial will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Public viewing will be held at Jackson Memory Funeral Home Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10am-6pm.

 

 

                           Obituary

God blessed the world with the presence of Maxine Teresa Orr on September 22, 1943 to the late Mr. Eddie Louis Allen and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Allen. Maxine transitioned peacefully to be present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 9, 2022. She confessed a hope in Christ early in life, and joined First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland, Alabama where she remained until death. She served as past devotional leader for the senior choir. She was also past piano for Pleasant Grove and the Angelic Youth Chorus of First Baptist. As a licensed practical nurse, she was employed by Courtland Community Hospital, Decatur General Hospital, Parkway Hospital and Athens Hospital. She was also a member of the North Courtland Senior Citizen. She served faithfully on the Mothers Board, in addition to Sunday School teacher, and choir member. Her favorite song was “I will Trust in the Lord”.

She leaves to mourn a devoted husband, Mr. Robert Orr of North Courtland, AL.; One daughter, Mrs. Vickie Orr Green (Harry) of Courtland, AL.; Two sons, Pastor Robert Lonel Orr (Tangela) of North Courtland, Alabama and Minister Deano Orr (Coronda) of Courtland, AL.; sisters, Ms. Edna Mae Horne of Courtland, AL.; Ms. Clara Denise Turner and Ms. Xenna Turner, both of Chicago. IL.; brothers, Mr. James Allen and Mr. Eddie Bruce Turner both of Chicago, IL. A special devoted niece, Mrs. Greta Draper of Courtland, AL; two sisters in laws, Ms. Bertha Mitchell of Courtland, AL.; and Ms. Georgia Mae Orr, of Chattanooga, TN.; and one brother in law, Mr. Phillip Orr of North Courtland, AL.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was proceeded in death by sisters Jearlene Orr, Betty Knaff, Pearlene Allen, and brother Delloyd Allen.
