Mary Mitchell, 71, of Town Creek died Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her home. There will be a graveside service at Wash Chilla Cemetery Thursday at 1:00 pm. Public viewing will he held Wednesday at Jackson Memory Funeral Home from 10-6.
Obituary
Mrs. Mary Louise Mitchell was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on November 5, 1948 to the late Alec Irvin and Bessie Mae Cole. She departed this life on July 25, 2020. Mary accepted Christ at an early age and later joined First Missionary Baptist Town Creek, Alabama where she remained a member until her death. She was a loving mother of four but was an active part of anyone’s life that needed a mother or grandmother figure. She made sure when she would eat everybody ate, nobody went away hungry. Famous for her fried chicken and she loved fish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mitchell Jr; parents Alec Irvin and Bessie Mae Cole; two sons, Thitois and Thiapolis Earvin; five sisters, Pearlie Mae, Mollie, Mary Ella, Merlene and Goldie Mae; two brothers, Lee Cole, Jr and Alec Irvin, Jr.
Mary Louise leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Christopher Mitchell of Town Creek, AL and Clifford Mitchell (Christy) of Decatur, AL; one daughter, Valerie Mason (Anthony) of Decatur, AL; eight grandchildren, Antoinetta Howlet, Telvin Howlet, Benjamin Howlet Jr, Adrain Howlet, Christopher Mitchell II, Sidney Mitchell, Lashanda Watkins, Omaya Madden; thirteen great grandchildren; five extended god-children, Meri Powers, Dexter Sherrod, Evon Orr, JoAnn Johnson and Bitsy Harris. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
