Mae Wood

Mae Alice Wood of Town Creek went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2025, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully after several years of declining health. She had longed for quite some time to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Mae was preceded in death by her husband, James Harlow Wood; her son Tony Wood; her parents Earl and Ila Mae Grissom; her sister, Sue Grissom; and her beloved granddaughter, Hannah Marie Wood. 

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Wood Behel(Corey); daugther in law Debbie Wood; granddaughters, Sara Paulk(David), Sidney Berryman(Craig), Emily Burgio(Tim), Olivia Tralongo(Michael), Carly Letsinger(Benji) Camryn Behel; great grandchildren, Harlow and Sullivan(Sara's children); Isabella, Vivian, Beckett, and Charlotte (Sidney's Children), Selah and Samuel(Emily's children); brother, Bennie Grissom(Kay); sister Lurlene Langston; nieces Suzanne Grissom, Lisa Tucker(Bobby), Amy Handley(Jonathan), Amy Hill; nephew, Marty Hill(Sonya); great niece Anna Handley.

Mae loved her church and was a faithful member of the choir for years. In her younger years, Mae enjoyed mowing the grass and working in the garden. She loved keeping her granddaughters when they were young and always spoiled them with painted fingernails and toenails. She introduced all of her granddaughters to her special coffee and loved to give them popsicles and way too many sweet treats.

Arrangements will be handled by Jackson Memory Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 12:00 - 1:00 at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with the service to follow at the church at 1:00 with Pastor Bobby Tucker officiating Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Town Creek or Kruzn for a Kure Foundation.
