Kathryn Sims

Kathryn Sims, 80, of Cullaman, formerly of Town Creek passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Due to inclement weather a memorial service will be held at a later date. 

                             Obituary

Kathryn Ellen Sims born on July 15, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, succumbed to her illness and went to rest in the loving arms of Jesus on January 7, 2025 in Cullman, Alabama. She was the beloved wife of William Riley Sims, a devoted mother to her two children Harold Lee Sims and Teena Marie Woodall and the best grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma to all her grandchildren.

Kathryn was the cherished oldest daughter Jacob and Ruby Thar and grew up alongside her siblings: Jacob William “Moke” Thar, Dolly Kathleen Shoemaker and Cindy Kauffman.

Kathy will forever be remembered as a source of joy and laughter, someone who could brighten any room with her humor and warmth. She had a unique zest for life that was reflected in her many passions. She loved drinking Mountain Dew while enjoying peppermints, putting together brightly colored jigsaw puzzles, painting along with Bob Ross, scrapping, and sharing her fondness for monkeys with those around her. These simple joys brought light to her days and to the lives of those who knew her.

While she lived Kathyrn was no stranger to sorrow; she was proceeded in death by many loved ones: her husband William Sims, her father and mother Jacob and Ruby Thar, her sister Dolly Shoemaker, father and mother-in-law Orvil and Levina Sims, sister-in-law Barbara Hauch, brother-in-law Lawrence Sims, Ronald Sims, niece Rhonda Sims and nephews Troy Shoemaker, Dane Michael Dorstewitz Jr, and Claude McClurg.
