John Harris

Mr. John Harris, 88, of North Courtland, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Jackson Memory Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at First Church of Courtland. 

Mr. John Harris was born in the Spring Creek Community on July 11, 1937
to the late James Owens and Gernese Bynum. He departed this life on
March 11, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Grace "Nanny" Puryear and Dorothy Smith; six brothers, Connie Harris, Ivory Harris, Willie B. Bynum, Ervin Harris, Jessie Bynum, and twin James "Pig" Harris; his daughter, Yvette Stover Fuller; and his wife, Doris Harris Coleman.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Maple Bumpus; two sons, Kelvin Stover (Ashley), Mario Stover (Carol); five sisters, Eula Mae Byrd of Tuscumbia, AL, Edna Bynum of Huntsville, AL, Stella Willard of Courtland, AL, Derra Pride (Frederic) of Decatur, AL, and Kalethia Goodlow (Ronnie) of Hillsboro, AL; two brothers, Donald Owens and Coynis Owens, both of Hillsboro, AL. He was also blessed with a host of grandchildren: Natiska Wilson, Natasha Cohn, Christopher Bumpus Sr., Lashay Terry (Cody), Elizabeth Stover, Jasmine Stover, Jamiya Stover, Josalyn Stover, Kelvin Stover Jr., Sophia Stover, Taylor Fuller, Marcus Fuller Jr., and Camden Fuller. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Norris Jones, Tiger Cohn, Matthew Cohn, Koby Cohn, Genesis Bumpus, Olivia Bumpus, Christopher Bumpus Jr., Cameron Cohn, Zada Bumpus, Carson Cohn, Aaliyah Tirri, and Mia Terry. He also leaves two great-great-grandchildren, Easton Jones and Aiden Cohn, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
