Elijah Fitzgerald, Jr. Obituary

Elijah "Bebop" Fitzgerald, Jr., 75, of Town Creek, The Cal Bottom community passed away Friday, November 1st. Public viewing will be Friday, November 8th from 10:00 - 5:00 pm at Jackson Memory Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at First M.B. Church in Courtland, Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in New Life Cemetery in Town Creek. 

Deacon Elijah Fitzgerald, Jr. accepted Christ at an early age and grew into a mature disciple of Christ. He faithfully served in the office of a Deacon at Macedonia MB Church, Town Creek, AL until his health failed him. He never met a stranger and always made his presence known in any room. He was preceded in death by his parents Elijah Fitzgerald. and Mary Beatrice Bean Fitzgerald, sisters: Pearl Hampton, Edna Goode, and Bobbie Ricks. His sister Edna Jackson followed his earthly transition a few hours later the same day.


He attended Central High School in Courtland, AL. He retired from International Papers in Courtland, AL after Twenty-Five years of employment. Thereafter, he worked part-time as a Railroad Crew Transport Driver, Town Creek Nutrition Center (delivering food to senior citizens), and Ekklesia Child Development Center as a driver. During his work career he forged many lasting friendships with people of all race and age demographics.


He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife of fifty-six years, Annie Pearl Robinson Fitzgerald. His children: Kimberly (Marcus) Malone of Athens, AL, Shillar Sanders, Timothy Fitzgerald of Town Creek, AL, Corey (LaCanas) Fitzgerald of Muscle Shoals AL, Marcus (Allison) Fitzgerald of Madison, AL, Kobee (Katenia) Fitzgerald of Florence, AL. He was blessed with Fourteen Grandchildren and Sixteen Great Grandchildren.


Sisters: Sadie (William) Torain of Decatur, AL, Louise Madden, Shelly Pride, Brenda (Cornal) Harris, Linda Warren, Veronica (Thomas) Jones of Town Creek, AL, Willodean (Richard) Coffey of Hillsboro, AL, Brother: Diphillip (Donna) Garner of Montgomery, AL.

Sister-In-Laws: Hattie (George) Guster of Decatur, AL, Janell (Henry) Sanders of Leighton, AL, Gloria (Houston) Goins, Late Janet (Ronnie) Puryear, Ida Robinson, Mary Tucker, of Courtland, AL, Brother-In-Laws: Charlie Price (Pearline) Robinson of Landover, MD, Col. Robert (Cynthia) Robinson of Trinity, AL, and Dennis (Chatan) Robinson of Decatur, AL.
