Doris Hornbuckle, 64, of Detroit formerly of Town Creek died July 26, 2020. There will be a graveside service at Jones Cemetery Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00 am. Public viewing will be Monday from 2-5 and Tuesday from 10-6.
Obituary
Mrs. Doris Jean Hornbuckle was the daughter of the late William Henry King, Jr. and Susie Mae Willard King. She was born March 6, 1956 and departed this life on July 26, 2020 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She confessed her faith in Christ and joined First Missionary Baptist Church Town Creek at an early age and continued to worship whenever she was in town. Doris graduated in 1974 from Hazlewood High School in Town Creek, AL. She received an Associate Degree from John C. Calhoun Community College in 1977 majoring in Psychology. She was previously employed by Wayne County in Detroit, MI. Doris was joined in marriage to John Franklin Hornbuckle on June 8, 1980. In this union a daughter was conceived, Miss Felecia Inez Hornbuckle.
Doris was preceded in death by her father; five brothers, James Henry, Freddie Lee, Charles Edward, Johnny D, and Ross King; two sisters, Ellen Deloise King and Patricia Priest.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John Franklin Hornbuckle; a daughter, Felecia Inez Hornbuckle; and a loving mother, Susie Mae King; three brothers, Willie J King of Detroit, MI, Tommy Willard King and William King, III (Carrie) both of Town Creek, AL; one sister, Iola Goode (Dennis) of Town Creek, AL; two sisters-in-law, Octavia King and Katie King both of Decatur, AL; a brother-in-law, David Priest of Decatur, AL; a devoted niece, Miss Krystal King of Detroit, MI. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, special friends, and coworkers who gave her the nickname “The Buckle”.
