Carswell Sanders Obituary

Mr. Carswell "Nig" Sanders was born on February 20, 1950 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Jesse and Ellen Yates Sanders. He departed this life on February 23, 2023 at Helen Keler Memorial Hospital. Public viewing will be held at Jackson Memory Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 10-5. The funeral will be held at Red Bank M.B. Church, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Carswell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of J.C. Yarbrough.

He was a 1968 graduate of Central High School in Courtland, AL. Upon completion of his High School diploma, he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents; Eddie and Bell Smith Yates, one grandson, Jabari Madden, brothers Kelly, Percell, James, Bobby, and George Sanders, one sister; Gloria Dean King. 

Carswell leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and caregiver, Sara Jones Sanders, three sons; Sean (Jeanelle) Sanders of Muscle Shoals, AL, Terence (Ryan) Jones of Town Creek, AL, Garrick( Breanna) Jones, of Florence, AL, five daughters; Tonja Mason and Tamara (Eric) Metcalf both of Decatur, AL, Latrisha Jones and Candace Jones both of Town Creek, AL, Clarissa (Mailaun) Diamond of Birmingham, AL, fifteen grandchildren; Kashyra, Paul, Tichina, Torie, Orlandria, Amari, J'Ven, Triniti, Essence, Anna, Emory, Elayna, Rorrie, Aeiress, and Jaylen, ten great grandchildren, four sisters; Nancy Foster of Hillsboro, AL, Rebell Moore of Decatur, AL, Thelma (Willie) Johnson of Town Creek, AL, Barbara (Wardell) Woodfork of Chicago, IL, one brother; Barry(Janice) Coger of Tuscumbia, AL, one Uncle; David Shoulders of Town Creek, AL, one sister-in-law; Willa Dean Jones of Town Creek, AL, special friends; Willie Nathaniel Almon of Town Creek, AL, and Thomas (Willo Dean) Steward of Leighton, AL, and a holt of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
