Bossie Johnson Obituary

​​Bossie "BJ" Johnson, 82, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Public viewing will be held at Jackson Memory Funeral Home Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. The funeral will be held at Love Chapel CME Church in Trinity Friday, July 25, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. 

Bossie James “BJ” Johnson 82, transitioned peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born July 16, 1943 to the late Jeff and Lizzie Johnson. BJ received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Love Chapel CME Church. He sung in the choir for many years and was president of the Trustee Board until he departed this life. He also is a retiree of Wolverine Tubes in Decatur, Alabama. BJ was a farmer at heart.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Clara Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory six children: Donald Johnson (Beverly) of Hartselle, AL., Karl Johnson (Sondra) of Moulton, AL., James Johnson Jr. (Ramona) of Nashville, TN., Chiquita Mosley (James), Coretta House (Alvin), and Verocal Johnson all of Decatur, AL. Also one Bonus Child, Princester Coffey (James Curtis) of Harvest, AL. Sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers - Milton Johnson and Melvin Dancy and one sister Lucy Mae Johnson and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws that loved him as well, with a host of nieces and nephews whom he cherished.
