Willie Ed "Scoopy" Johnson, 73, of Town Creek died Saturday, October 13th at his home. His funeral will be Thursday, October 18th at 12 pm, at Little Star Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America. He will be placed in the church 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at Dobbins Cemetery. Public viewing will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 10-6 at Jackson Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Willie Ed Johnson “Scoopy” was born October 28, 1944 in Town Creek, Alabama to
the late Judge Johnson and Bertie Lee Johnson. He departed this life on October 13,
2018 at his home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loved ones.
Willie Ed confessed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and renewed
his commitment to Christ during his illness. He graduated from Central High School in
Courtland, Alabama. Willie Ed worked in construction for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Mae Johnson; and a brother,
Abe Garner.
Willie Ed leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Effie (Garry) Davis of Trinity,
Alabama; four sisters, Mary Jean Johnson of Waukegan, Illinois, Ruby L. Garner of Town
Creek, Alabama, Jerlene Rather of Decatur, Alabama, and Fannie Miller (George) of
Town Creek, Alabama; five brothers, Rafe Johnson of Town Creek, Alabama, Jerry
Johnson (Dorothy) of Madison, Alabama, Richard L. Garner (Linda) of Mary Esther,
Florida, and Jeff D. Garner (Stephanie) of Town Creek, Alabama; one aunt, Corrine
Spangler of Town Creek, Alabama; four grandchildren, Christopher Fuqua, Garry Davis
(Leslie), Avis Fuqua, and Bridgett Davis; and four great grandchildren, Caden Preston,
Carson Henderson, Olivia Davis, and Dekota Troupe. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends.
