Willie J. Bowling

Willie J. Bowling, 83, of North Courtland died Thursday, November 22nd at Decatur General Hospital. His funeral will be Tuesday November 27th, at First Missionary  Baptist Church in Courtland, at 1 PM. He will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to his service. Burial will follow at Courtland Cemetery. Public viewing will be Sunday from 1-5 PM and Monday from 10-6 PM.

Obituary
was born on August 31, 1935 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the
late Fred and Clara Bowling. He departed his life on November 22, 2018 at Decatur
Morgan Hospital. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret Bowling,
daughter Jacqueline Houser, four sisters Lillie Mae Birgins, Stella Bowling, Bessie Lee
Jones, and Shirley King, three brothers Levolia Burt, Fred Bowling Jr., and Frank Lee
Bowling.
At an early age he confessed a faith in Christ. He was baptized into membership at
Wheeler Chapel Church, Courtland, AL. He later joined First Missionary Baptist
Church, Courtland, AL. During his membership at First Baptist he was a dedicated
member of the Trustee Board. Mr. Bowling remained a loving and faithful member
until his death. He was a hard worker and after working for over 30 years he retired
from Wolverine Tube. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He will be greatly missed.

Courtland, AL, Rachel (Juan) Johnston, Toshia Smiley, both of Madison, AL, Ethel Mae
(James) Cunningham of Moulton, AL, Florine Langford of Decatur, AL, four devoted
sons; Jerry (Joyce) Crayton, Wallace (Geneice) Crayton, both of Hillsboro, AL, Freddie
Smiley, and Willie Smiley, both of Decatur, AL, three sisters; Corrine Hurley, and
Gloria Wiggins both of Courtland, AL, Bertha Moore of Decatur, AL, two brothers;
John (Janice) Bowling of Courtland, AL, Connie (Angela) Bowling of Muscle Shoals, AL,
one aunt; Corrine White of Courtland, AL, one sister-in-law; Lequata Billings, three
brother-in-laws; Freddie James King of Hillsboro, AL, George (Anne) Ashford of
Cleveland, OH, Clinton (Tonia) Davenport of Decatur, AL. Willie Bowling had a host of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, Eloise
Jones, William Torain Jr., Clarence White, and many other friends who will miss him
very much.
