John W. McCoy, Sr., son was born March 15, 1941 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Willie Frank and Ida McCoy. He departed this life February 24, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama. John was the last of the “Real McCoys”
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek, Alabama. He was united in marriage to Nancy McCoy for 52 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Frank and Ida McCoy, one sister and five brothers.
John leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Nancy Jerrell McCoy of Decatur, Alabama; one son, John W. (Sandra) McCoy, Jr. of Athens, Alabama; two daughters, Cynthia Harris of Town Creek, Alabama, Regina McCoy of Huntsville, Alabama; one foster brother, Jimmy (Mildred) Cal of Montgomery, Alabama. Grandchildren, Steven (Kesha) Harris, Shania (Ron) Allen, Tiana McCoy, Anthony D. McCoy, Tallas McCoy, Ariana McCoy, John W. McCoy, III, Tonorreya, Tarashia Jones; four sisters-in-law, Norma McCoy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Edith (Forest) Tevis, Janet (Hubert) Wright both of Richmond, Indiana, and Emma McCoy of Town Creek, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Jean) Sanders, Dan Jerrell, Eric (Brenda) Jerrell all of Richmond Indiana; host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A special son, Tony Jones; two special nieces, Pam McCoy and Norma Willingham both of Town Creek, Alabama; two special nephews, Michael McCoy and Leroy McCoy, Jr. both of Richmond, Indiana; Special friends, Willie Madden, Percy Jones and Clinton Jones.
