Catherine Harris

Catherine Harris, 95, of Decatur died December 24th. Her funeral will be Monday, December 31st, at 12 Noon, at Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Madison. Burial will follow at Sterrs Cemetery in Decatur. Public viewing will be Sunday from 1-5 PM here at the funeral Home.

Mrs. Catherine P. Harris was born on August 12, 1923 to the late Mr. Edgar Collier and Mrs. Lucinda Scales in Limestone County, Alabama. She was married to the late Mr. Leroy Harris for many years and was a dedicated wife. She was an avid bible reader, accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized by Pastor James Robinson. She faithfully attended Newcomb Street Church of Christ for many years under the leadership of Brother Douglas Smith She graduated from Lakeside High School in Decatur, Alabama and attended Alabama A & M College. She retired from Morgan County School System as a Title 1 Instructor. She had a passion for caring for people in need. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 7 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory Isaac Peoples, Carrie Mangrum, Charlie Benford (Odell), Thomas Benford (Zenopha), Willie Mae Western (Alphonso), Jessie Collier (Ruth), Emma Moore (Edward), A J Collier (Diane) Mildred Collier and Imogene Malone (sister in law). She had a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, co-worker and friends. Rest in peace our beloved daughter in Christ.
