Annie Mae Goode Deloney was born November 27, 1935 to the late Odis Goode Sr. and Mary Ann King Goode. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and joined Jackson Chapel Church and later united with the North Courtland Primitive Baptist Church. She served as Mother of the church, past president of the Usher Board, coordinator of the Nursing Home Outreach Ministry under Elder W. T. Shackelford. She also served as the advisor to the youth choir, a Sunday School teacher, chairperson of the Kitchen Committee, and a member of the Sister’s Aid Society.
She was employed by the Head Start Program in Town Creek, Alabama as a cook where she later retired.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; foster mother, Mrs. Willie Patsy McCullough; her sister, Mrs. Mildred Gladies; a son, Edward Lewis Deloney; and a grandson, DeCarlos Deloney.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 69 years, Luster Deloney Sr. of Hillsboro, AL, her children; Luster Deloney Jr. (Geneva) of Courtland, AL, James Deloney (Vickie) of Fulton, MS, Mary Deloney of Hillsboro, AL, Katherine Latham (James) of Huntsville, AL, Peggy Reedus (Melvin) of Courtland, AL, Patricia Hood (Roy) of Leighton, AL, Lucy Deloney (Michael) of Hillsboro, AL, Lorine Davidson (David) of Town Creek, AL, Charley Deloney (Glory) of Hillsboro, AL, Willie Deloney of Hillsboro, AL, Alvin Deloney (Bridget) of Decatur, AL, and Kevin Deloney (Julia) of Courtland, AL; five sisters, Willodean Billings of Hartselle, AL, Emma Warren (John), Ida Pryor, Lela Baker (Frankie) all of Decatur, AL, Mary Davis of Prattville, AL; nine brothers, Odis Goode Jr. (Helen) Michael Goode (Charlotte), Robert Goode, Larry Goode (Kate) all of Huntsville, AL, Alfonza Goode, Jimmy Goode both of Decatur, AL, Jerry Goode of Honolulu, HI, Clarence Goode (Shirlene) of Saginaw, MI, Thomas Goode (Libby) of Town Creek, AL; one aunt, Mrs. Annie Goode Davis of Chattanooga, TN; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucille Williams of Courtland, AL; two devoted grandchildren, Tonya Mitchell and Chiquita Hood; 58 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
