Funeral for Thomas Goodlett Green Sr. 90, of Town Creek who died Monday, June 10th. at his residence will be Thursday, June 13th. at 2:00 with Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 here at the funeral home.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Hazel Green of Town Creek and 1 son; Thomas Gregory Green of Decatur. He is survived by his wife; Edith Tucker Green of Town Creek, 2 sons; Thomas Goodlett Green Jr. (Melissa) of Cherokee and Dan (Sharon) Green of Town Creek, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was a World War II Staff Sargent in the 134 Infantry 35th. Div. He received the World War II Victory Medal, 2 Good Conduct Medals, European, Arican-Middle Eastern Service Medals with 3 bronze star clusters, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Service Medal, A Purple Heart with 1 Bronze Oakleaf Cluster, representing wounded in action (multiple times), a Heroic Bronze Star, representing bravery in action, Qualification Badge, Army Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. He had achievements in machine gun, pistol and carbine guns usage.
