Mrs. Shirley "Rye" Bowling King age 67, of Hillsboro, Alabama passed away July 29, 2016. She was born December 25, 1948 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Fred Bowling Sr. and Clara Wallace Bowling. Rye as she was affectionately known also was preceded in death by three sisters; Stella Bowling, Lillie Birgans and Bessie L. Jones, three brothers; Levolia Birt, Fred Bowling Jr. and Frank Bowling.
"Rye" confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Wheeler Chapel Full Gospel Church until her health failed. She was president of the choir for many years, she enjoyed serving the Lord Jesus Christ and she loved her family and church family dearly. She attended Central High School in Courtland, Alabama and was employed by Meals on Wheels, Ingall Shipyard and General Electric for many years.
She is survived by her faithful husband, Freddie King Jr. of 48 years and their seven children; Sharon (Levert) Shackelford of Hillsboro, Alabama, Fredrick (Heather) King of Florida, Marcus (Cheyenne) King, Joseph (Latina) King both of Hillsboro, Alabama, Rodney (Sharron) King of Decatur, Alabama, Gregory (Tonya) King of Hillsboro, Alabama, Tequeenia (David) Hood of Decatur, Alabama. She also leaves to cherish her memories twenty one grandchildren, three sisters; Bertha Moore of Decatur, Corine (Robert) Hurley, and Gloria Wiggins both of Courtland, Alabama; three brothers; Willie Bowling and John (Janice) Bowling both of Courtland, Alabama, and a devoted brother Connie (Angie) Bowling of Muscle Shoals, Alabama and a devoted niece, Velvet A. Mitchell of Town Creek, Alabama.
