Mrs. Dorothy Lee Bolden-Burt was born December 8, 1933 to Levolia Jones and Patsy Nance in Lauderdale County Alabama, Dorothy received her formal education in the Lawrence County Public School System.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Town Creek, Alabama. She served faithfully as a member and on the Mothers Board of the church until her health began to fail and she could no longer attend. She truly loved the Lord and was a kind loving person who was a friend to many. Dorothy was a great homemaker and loved cooking, gardening and baking for her family and friends. She cared for the sick and shut in including her daughter who preceded her in death (Rosa Bolden-Jones). In her leisure, she enjoyed reading her bible and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed helping others and spending time with her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was truly blessed. Her journey came to an end on November 9, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Levolia Jones; mother, Patsy Nance Gray and brothers, David Gray and Belton Watkins, Horton Gray Jr, Andrew Gray, Willie Gray, a nephew Leon Gray, as well as her daughter Rosa Bolden-Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Robert Bolden, (May) Florence, Alabama, Albert Bolden of North Courtland, Alabama, one sister Bershema Jones- Bradley of Decatur, Alabama, one aunt, Erma Nance-Crawford of Louisville, KY., a niece, Andrella Gray, Atlanta Georgia, five grandchildren, Royce Bolden and Monique Bolden, Madison, Alabama, Tammie Thompson, Sheffield, Alabama, James Jones II (Roxanne) and Jasmine Jones, Chicago, Illinois. Seven great-grandchildren, a loving friend, Thomas Jean Doss and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
