Donnie L. Puryear was born September 11, 1956 to the late Melvin McKinley Puryear Sr. and Annie Kate Jones Puryear. He departed this life on Saturday, January 14th at Huntsville Hospital.

He acknowledged his belief in Christ in his later years under the leadership of Pastor James E. Copeland of Jackson Chapel CME Church in Courtland, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Melvin McKinley Puryear Jr. and Clyde Grady Puryear and his brother-in-law; Rev. Robert Allen Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Burt Ann Allen Puryear, three daughters; Chiquita Nance (Donnie), Tanya Puryear both of Courtland, AL and Iesha Young of Decatur, AL, two sons; Donwaski Puryear of Decatur, AL and Gregory Young, Athens, AL, six sisters; Nadine Langham (Roy), Dorothy Jean Garth, Patricia Diana Puryear, and Glenda Puryear all of Courtland, AL, Eva Jackson, Moulton, AL and Felicia Barrett of Decatur, AL, one stepsister; Phyllis Mayes of Courtland, AL, four brothers; Leroy Puryear (Linda), Town Creek, AL, his twin brother, Ronnie Boyd Puryear (Janet), Carl Edward Puryear, Floyd Wayne Puryear all of Courtland, AL, his mother-in-law; Ella Garth Allen and stepmother; Grace Alma Puryear, one aunt; Annie Mae Puryear, three sisters-in-law; Effie Horton (James);, Fannie Mason, Patty Mosely (Woodie) and a special ex sister-in-law; Minnie Allen, three brothers-in-law; Andrew Allen (Renita), Robert Brown (Lillie), and Lester Brown (Lucy) and two special brothers in law; Paul Mason and Percell Garth, nine grandchildren; Indee, Liyah, Quez, Donterrius, Janaski, Peyton, Peyslee, Pashence and A'leyric, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and one devoted friend; Benny Green.
